These blow-ups depict the Mediterrean coast whose art historical subject matter is that of the Fauvists--bathers. There also exists a narrative story which develops after each new photograph is presented, much like the Kuleshov effect of film editing. For example, after the man in the window, we see a woman in bathing suit, suggesting a gaze, a level of voyeurism which is certainly present under such conditions. The blow-ups also are another way of looking at the gradations of color and the reality of the subject matter.
